It s 9:30. I just spent 2 hours listeni ng to a bunch of old people tell me how bad traffic is, how some one parked in front of thier house, and how the new condo building would ruin thier neighborhood. The best was the lady living in the condo building next door who said the last thing this neighborhood needs is another condo building.

Good! Can’t stop thinking about the Volvo purchase on Saturday. Even the impending Friday morning meeting where I have to wake up 4 hours earlier than normal isn’t getting my spirits down.

The house is a 30 year project. We had all these plans, but life has gotten in the way, so we're back to hoarding and recovering from certain events. Our offices are set up and we have water and heat, can't really complain.

Finished dinner and am hanging out with the doggos. It has been a positively weird week of weather in Southern NM with several days of near constant rain and having been cold (for this time of year) and cloudy for a week straight. A full day of cloudy is a rare thing here, and week of it is unheard of. People around town are complaining about not seeing the sun. I love it (although I might feel differently if I lived where it happened regularly).

Stressed and tired. I’ve realized that with my wife’s medical condition I haven’t really had much of a break since August. With work, kids activities and that kind of thing I’m feeling a bit worn down. I’ve had two folks at work have spouses who had miscarriages in the last week as well. Ugh.

The wife has been awesome though.  Going on 65 days without a real meal since she is still on clear fluids.  Meeting with a surgical specialist next week.  Hopefully we will get some clear direction.  

I’m working to stay positive, but it is getting to be work. Thanks for asking though.

Not too bad. It’s good to be home (have been on the road a ton for work). I really need to get my shit together and finish some projects around the house (and in the garage) but that’s hard to do when you’re out of town for nearly 2 months with only a few days here-and-there to catch up with things. Fortunately that’s done for now and I’ve got a weekend coming up which is nice.

Minor/routine surgery coming up late next week, first time for that but not too worried about it . If Oppo never hears from me again, well, something went terribly wrong.

No, architect for a proposed condo building. This was a presentation to the neighborhood before we submit our final design to the planning bo ard.  There are about 5% production reasionable comments and the rest is just people bitching

This has been my worst mental health week in a very long time. My childhood trauma is haunting me and I thought I would lose hearing in one ear from a ruptured eardrum that I was told I had on Sunday. On Monday I went to a specialist and they found no rupture but being told that by the urgent care doctor pushed me from holding on to the cliff with my fingertips to falling into my hole of anxiety and depression and I didn’t go to work all week and only made it to one class. Where I cried and fell apart while talking to my social work professor about how I fell behind because of my mental health and abut about my past trauma from my abusive and neglectful family. She was incredibly supportive and is helping me get back on track in my 2 classes with her and try to get better. Luckily I see my therapist tomorrow too. I honestly thought about dropping out this week and giving up on even living. But I did make it to one class and I’m still here. It’s hard living with the abuse and the anxiety and depression. I don’t think it’ll ever go away but it’s supposed to get better. I wish I could move out as I think that would really help. Or have a family that cared or wanted to help or love me or in my moms case were  still alive. I’m just trying to survive.

It was unfortunate. The battery was down to around 30% so that would have bit me in the ass later this winter but a new alternator on a 5 year old rig is concerning

Feeling pretty beat. Mostly full day of work, plus four hours of helping my homeless friend avoid getting his van towed (which put me in the doghouse with my landlord) , plus taking care of the pets and the house solo because my lady’s been visiting family back East since last Tuesday. Still got a few more hours of housework to do, plus an hour of catchup work for work . Tommorow I’m waking up early for another hour before work of helping said homeless friend unload a bunch of stuff we threw in my truck today, then, work. Oh and also I’m pretty sure I’m getting sick.  

Trying to maintain perspective, though. I’m grumpy and whiny today but things are very good overall. Certainly my life is loads & loads better than my homeless friend’s, and I don’t think my day today has anything on some of the entire work weeks you’ve put in. Plus, tomorrow the lady is coming back and it’s Friday.

Understood. I have been here 11 years. I was made aware by circumstances some time ago that the school, department, etc. act like your friends and supporters until your needs stop aligning perfectly with theirs. Institutional loyalty is not like personal loyalty. It’s a facade engineered to bolster morale and increase productivity.

I have a backup plan that will involve a large pay/benefits cut but will preserve my mental health. But there are other options to look at too.

I too have a backup plan. I could become a high school or college science teacher. Pay cut would be bad, but benefits are the most important thing.
